Generation 2 brought a few quality defenders who are likely to stay forgotten in the shadows. So here are the Johto kids who deserve better.
Slowking is basically identical to slowbro. It tops out just shy of 2500 CP for a perfect one.
Another water / psychic pokemon sharing primary attacks with slowbro. Confusion or Water Gun. Both with STAB. Confusion it is.
As for charge attacks slowking isn't as nice as slowbro. Blizzard, Fire Blast and Psychic are all one bar attacks. To make matters worse only Psychic offers the STAB bonus.
While Fire Blast offers a hugely humoristic component, since grass attacks are super effective against water, it's brutally slow.
Psychic comes with STAB, and it's the fastest of the charge attacks offered. Normally it would have been a given, but a defender usually benefits from having two different attack types.
Blizzard lacks STAB, but it's just marginally slower than Psychic. I'd argue that while Psychic is indeed better, the margin is so small that Blizzard fits the bill for a secondary best charge attack.
Your slowking should come with Confusion as a primary attack and Psychic or Blizzard as charge attacks.
Slowking does the same job as a slowbro. Combine with lapras or other low CP quality defenders.
